I hope you’ll indulge me for a moment as I share a little of my own story and how it’s brought me to the work I offer today.
Throughout my childhood, ballet was my world. I danced six days a week. It felt like home, though from the age of 11, joint pain from hypermobility became a constant companion. Dismissed by GPs, my mother took me to a Cranialosteopath, Stuart Korth, who, I later learned, was a pioneer in his field and is now regarded as a leading figure in paediatric Cranial osteopathy. I was also sent to Alan Herdman’s pioneering Pilates studio, long before such practices were commonplace. I couldn’t have known then that these early experiences were quietly teaching me proprioception and interoception. Skills that laid the groundwork for the self-awareness and felt sense at the core of my work now.
Though I didn’t yet know I was neurodiverse, these embodied approaches helped me navigate childhood in ways I only appreciate fully now. This continues to shape how I work to this day. Later, after years of working at the BBC and raising my four daughters, I retrained as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist in 2012 and subsequently as a Craniosacral therapist. Movement therapy, Craniosacral work and my lifelong relationship with the body became natural threads in my practice. Without planning it, I found myself specialising in neurodiversity drawn by an intuitive connection and soon surrounded by clients whose nervous systems resonated with my own journey.
Alongside this, my four daughters, all later recognised as neurodiverse and ADHD, became my greatest teachers. They’ve shown me again and again the power of sensitivity, creativity and deep connection and the gifts that this bestows if we can learn to manage the difficulties that may accompany these gifts.
Over the last 15 years, I’ve also continued to train and explore, deepening my psychotherapy work, studying ADHD coaching, , Psychedlic Integrated Therapy, Breathworks.
In addition to my formal training I have studied for many years with gifted Qi Gong Masters, Advaita teachers and Masters of the Andean Medicine Tradition.
The Hiraeth courses and workshops I’ve now developed are a deeply personal culmination of this path.
